President of the World Bank David Malpass has called for stronger global debt relief as economies worldwide continue to struggle in the wake of COVID-19.

Mr Malpass has identified that the imminent threat of poverty for economically fragile countries is his number one concern, and says that more needs to be done.

The World Bank has so far mobilised $160billion in relief funding for struggling public systems around the world, in what Mr Malpass has described as an effort to prevent a recession from turning into a depression.
