Warning: the following story makes reference to sexual assault.

The Victorian Government has announced a review of a law that meant sexual assault survivors would have to receive permission from the courts to go public about their assault, even when a conviction has been recorded. These reforms come after the launch of the #LetUsSpeak campaign, where survivors accused the new laws of being a tool to silence victims and protect perpetrators. The campaign was led by journalist and survivor Nina Funnell who said the new laws aren’t intentionally malicious but have occurred due to “government incompetence”.
