Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack has been scrutinised after associating Victoria’s coronavirus outbreak directly to a Black Lives Matter protest.

McCormack, who was speaking on ABC’s Q&A, claimed the rally in Melbourne was one of the reasons behind the second epidemic.

Q&A’s host was quick to contest the statement, claiming McCormack was making connections that have not been proved. Whilst McCormack was confident in his statistics, it was later confirmed by the Department of Health and Human Services in Victoria that there was no relation between those at the rally who had the virus and the current outbreak.
