Queensland Parliament has passed a new law which punishes members of the clergy for failing to report child sexual abuse.
The legislation means members will no longer use the sanctity of the confessional as a defence against child sex abuse.
Police Minister Mark Ryan says the law would ensure the protection for vulnerable children.
