Prime Minister Scott Morrison plans to increase the number of people arriving in Australia by 2,000 from next Friday.
The Federal Government has issued letters to the states and territories requesting they boost their hotel quarantine capacity ahead of the proposed changes.
The move will see 6,000 people arriving in Australia every week instead of the current 4,000.
