A sentence hearing into the 2016 Dreamworld Thunder River Rapids Ride tragedy has begun today at Southport Magistrates Court, where Dreamworld’s parent company Ardent Leisure has pleaded guilty to three charges.

The charges are in relation to the theme park failing to comply with health and safety duties with the court finding that if an emergency stop button had been put in place, the ride could have been stopped.

Ardent Leisure is facing a maximum penalty of $4.5 million.
