Victoria continue downward trend of coronavirus cases

Victoria has continued its downward trend of coronavirus cases, recording 10 new cases and seven deaths in the past 24 hours.

Metropolitan Melbourne have brought their 14-day average down to 18.2 cases a day.

Melbourne is required to reach an average of five cases a day to move into the third step of the re-opening roadmap.

Premier Daniel Andrews said suppression of the virus, not eradication, remains Victoria's coronavirus goal.
