New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced travel between New Zealand and some states of Australia could be possible before the end of the year.

In an interview on TV N-Z, Ardern said if Australia can ensure hotspots are isolated and borders remain closed, a trans-Tasman travel bubble could occur.

Ardern said an Australian-wide travel bubble would take a while, but they were open to starting with states such as Queensland.

She said her ongoing goal like always is to remain a COVID free country.
