The ABC has revealed work at South32's Dendrobium mine south of Sydney has caused significant damage to ancient Indigenous sites.
Paul Knight from the Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council said the licence granted by the State Government permitted the destruction.
Mining company South32 says it recognises the value and importance of cultural heritage sites and began an internal review of its approach in June.
