The Therapeutic Goods Association issued a $164 520 fine to Sydney-based company PharmaCare Laboratories for allegedly misleading the advertising for two complementary medicines.

The ingredients warning alleged omitted milk products from the list, resulting in two out of the three children affected suffering a severe anaphylactic reaction.

The Therapeutic Goods Act prohibits advertising that is misleading or likely to mislead. Professor John Skerritt, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Health said “Omittingimportant information, such as life-threatening allergens, from medicine information and advertisements puts consumer’s health at risk.”
