The destruction of a sacred Aboriginal ‘Decision Tree’ has been temporarily halted preventing construction to the sacred site and prompted Dujab Wurrang woman, Sissy Eileen Austin, to step down as First People’s Assembly Member after the tree was taken away on Monday.

Austin thanked her supporters and said, the trust between Aboriginal peoples and the government is broken.

The construction on the Western Highway will be decided by the Victorian Supreme Court tomorrow morning at 10.30am.
