The Brisbane City Council is being accused of making political appointments to key council positions over the summer recess, including a former LNP councillor.

Former Councillor Michael Caltabiano accepted a contract to be on the board of Transport for Brisbane after being approved by the council for a 2-year appointment in October last year.

Mr Caltabiano has significant links to the LNP, including a controversial appointment as Director-General of the Department of Transport and Main roads in 2012 under then-Premier Campbell Newman leading to misconduct charges and has been the chair of the LNP’s executive committee.

Labor’s Brisbane City Council leader Jared Cassidy said the appointments made by Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner’s administration "stink".
