Getting drivers license in Queensland will require more rigorous training following changes to the provisional license test, as increasing fatal crashes amongst P-plate drivers.

Starting from 29th of March, Queensland P-plate exams are being upgraded with an added-on hazard-perception test, in an attempt to assess drivers' reactions to dangers on the road.

The upgrade is made after a rise in fatal accidents among young people, as Department of Transport and Main Roads data revealed drivers upgrade from their L-plates to P-plates become six times more likely to be fatal in car crashes or suffer a serious injury.
