Queensland Dinosaur fans are petitioning the government to make the Diamantinasaurus the official state fossil emblem.
The Diamantinasaurus, nicknamed Matilda was uncovered in Winton, the epicentre for dinosaur fossils, and is on a shortlist under consideration.
The Queensland cabinet is open to the idea saying that it is an important link to outback tourism.
