Queensand’s fire season is predicted to extend into March due to extreme hot and dry conditions.
Brain Smith, Regional Manager of Rural Fire Service Queensland, says the fire season in Central Queensland will continue until the region experiences significant rainfall.
This comes despite La Nina conditions, which typically bring heavier rainfall in the wet season, being declared by the Bureau of Meteorology.
