A statewide rescue mission has seen 70 black bats released back into the wild after carer groups from across Queensland united in their rescue.

Hundreds of bats died of starvation in Rockhampton back in December following a random mass abandonment.

Carers have successfully hand-raised the infants and they are now being released into wild colonies.

Bat Conservation and Rescue Queensland's president Melinda Brennan coordinated the rescue between three groups from Brisbane and one from Townsville, after being inspired from last year's bushfires when Queensland bat groups helped groups in New South Wales.

"We're learning that if we can coordinate together, we can best utilise our resources for the best outcome for our volunteers and the bats," Ms Brennan said.
