The Myanmar military has killed at least 38 residents in Myanmar yesterday.

The military responded to widespread protests against the ongoing military coup in the nation.

United Nations special envoy on Myanmar, Christine Schraner Burgener, said yesterday was the bloodiest day since the military seized control on February 1st.

Youth activist Thinzar Shunlei Yi told Reuters said, "It's horrific, it's a massacre. No words can describe the situation and our feelings,"

South-East Asian foreign ministers urged the military to restrain but failed to unite behind a call for the release of Myanmar State Counsellor, Ms Suu Kyi and the restoration of democracy during a special meeting held on Tuesday.
