The City of Gold Coast and the State Government have formed a climate adaptation partnership that aims to review how current infrastructure and environmental management practises on the coast need to be adjusted to better address the impacts of climate change.

The Gold Coast has been criticised by environmental groups for not updating its climate change strategy after it expired in 2014.

Gold Coast Waterways Chair Mara Bun said the science of climate change is impossible to ignore, and that the Gold Coast has a strong track record for developing innovative responses to environmental challenges.

"I’m looking forward to seeing the solutions that the project team comes up to ensure locals and visitors continue to enjoy everything the Gold Coast has to offer now, and into the future," Bun said.
