Labor is set to win a historic victory after the Western Australia state election over the weekend, with current estimates predicting the party will hold 52 of the 59 seats in the lower house.

Mark McGowan, the returned WA Premier, has said that the landslide victory is thanks to his party’s centrist and "middle-of-the-road" stance.

The results have left the Liberal Party with too few elected members to form an Opposition, with the Nationals set to replace them.
