Eight COVID-19 cases were recorded in Queensland hotel quarantine overnight, one of the state’s largest daily quarantine totals.  

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said six cases were returning travellers from Papua New Guinea, which struggling  to contain a surging outbreak of the virus.

Ms Palaszczuk said she is waiting on the Federal Government to consider implementing regional quarantine measures.

There are now 48 active cases of COVID-19 in Queensland hospitals.
