The Queensland government is proposing an increase to the minimum wage.
In their submission to The Fair Work Commission, the Palaszczuk government argued that an increase could help close the gender pay gap as many female-dominated industries relied on the award wage.
The Federal government, however, is against the proposal, arguing that an increase in labour costs will have a negative impact on local businesses recovering from the COVID pandemic.
