A plan to build Australia’s longest road tunnel at The Blue Mountains has been revealed by the New South Wales Government as part of a plan to upgrade the Great Western Highway.

The plan is not set in stone as the state government is investigating the possibility of the tunnel and seeking funding from the Commonwealth. The government says they promise the tunnel would be toll free.

New South Wales Premier John Barilaro says the tunnel that would connect Blackheath and Mount Victoria would transform the state as it would cut down on congestion.
