Hazard reduction burns in Sydney have left the city in a blanket of smoke and fog that was so thick it could be seen from space. Satellite images show the fog and smoke.

A health warning for people with asthma was given and ferries were cancelled due to the low visibility levels. The Harbour Bridge was obscured as the fog moved in and settled.

Air quality is low and light winds caused the smoke to settle in residential areas however the hazard is set to lift throughout the next two days.
