The Queensland Liberal Nationals have voted to place Senator James McGrath at the top of their senate ticket for next year’s elections in what is being seen as a snub for frontrunner Amanda Stoker.

Stoker was reported to be Scott Morrison’s implied preference for the number one spot and is part of the party’s religious right faction, causing controversy on issues such as abortion and sexual assault.

Stoker will take third spot beneath Nationals Senator Matt Canavan, however the Coalition have not failed to secure at least three Queensland senate seats since nineteen ninety-eight.
