A man claims to have fled from China across the Taiwan strait in a rubber dinghy trying to seek freedom and democracy.
Taiwanese Authorities were alerted to the man when he was spotted by residents near Taichung city's harbour.
The Taiwan Strait is one of the world's most heavily policed waterways.
