The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Brisbane based birthing in our community program has released data by researchers at Charles Darwin University.

The Study has shown that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women using the service were 50% less likely to have a premature baby than those accessing standard maternity care in hospital, as well as a 40% increase in breastfeeding.

The study led by Professor Yvette Roe, a Njikena Jawuru woman, says having a range of services available with this kind of model of care and this system of care, changes life trajectory.”
