Activists are raising concerns in relation to the excessive use of police force during arrests at the Land Forces Defence Expo. 80 police officers attended the expo with the intention of working with the protestors. 8 arrests were made, including indigenous elder, Wayne Wharton after he demanded access to the convention while another protestor blocked the former defence ministers vehicle prompting their arrest.

Legal Observer organisation, Action Ready allege police used excessive force, handcuffed compliant protestors, issued inappropriate directions and cautions, and tampered with accountability measures.
