Queensland Rail says they will cut a key target to hire extra train crews, due to excessive costs

The Strachan Inquiry into service cancelations on the Rail network in twenty-sixteen, recommended new drivers and guards be recruited to significantly decrease the reliance on overtime.

However, a later report from the Cititrain Response Unit reveals those targets have since been cut.

Queensland Transport Mark Bailey said two hundred new drivers and guards have been recruited to QR and more would be recruited in time for the opening of the Cross River Rail project in twenty-twenty-five.
