Almost half of the Australian school principals report teacher shortages, with more than half of those managing schools in remote locations and three-quarters in very remote areas.

Data from the Australian Educator Union revealed 47 percent of school principals have experienced teacher shortages in 2020.

Australian Education Union President Correna Hythorpe said teachers, principals, and education support staff were dedicated professionals carrying out one of the most important jobs, but excessive workloads were having a deep impact on the profession and that solving the issue will require funding and resources for schools from the government.
