American President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladamir Putin will conclude the Geneva summit agreeing to reinstate their respective ambassadors and begin talks on arms control and cybersecurity.

After months of top-tier diplomatic contacts being effectively cut off amid escalating tensions, Biden revealed that an agreement has been reached to return ambassadors to their corresponding posts.

Putin said Moscow and Washington will begin discussions on possible changes to the 2010 New START arms control treaty after it expires in 2026 which limits the number of strategic nuclear warheads, missiles and bombers that Russia and the United States can deploy.

After the summit, Putin said there was “no hostility” during the “constructive” summit and Biden described the talks as “positive”, as the two leaders held separate press conferences.
