Central Queensland is facing scrutiny from the mining union after a declared “renewable boom”. 

CFMEU's mining and energy division president, Steve Smyth, says there needs to be an independent body to support the transition to renewables and ensure adequate job creation for those in the mining industry. 

The Queensland government announced a two billion dollar investment into the renewables sector and 26 initiatives to develop wind and solar farms throughout rural Queensland in the state budget last week.
