Starting Friday, using the Check In QLD app will be mandatory at supermarkets, shopping centres, and other businesses.

Health minister Yvette D’ath said that an additional 77,000 businesses signed up to the app in the last two weeks.

This change comes as the Queensland Government is still working out how to prevent police from accessing the data through a loophole.

Privacy Commissioner Philip Green says he warned the government about this loophole months ago.
