One of the Valley’s oldest live music venues said it’s struggling more now than during the height of Covid restrictions last year. The Zoo, which marks its thirtieth birthday next year, said the effects of snap lockdowns are felt even after restrictions are eased.

Bands who were originally scheduled to perform during the June 29th lockdown need to be rescheduled months later, meaning the venue loses both a night of performance and the opportunity to host new acts on the rescheduled dates.

Co-owner, Pixie Weyand, said the government should be doing more to support venues. In the mean-time, the Zoo said it relies on punters to show up to gigs, support local bands and purchase from the venue to keep it alive.
