Mj Rodriguez makes Emmy history as the first transgender person nominated in a lead acting category. Member from the Australian Transgender Association Queensland, Christine Johnson, stated that,
“It’s wonderful, a real boost for the whole community to see her on-screen, and hopefully she gets the Emmy”.
Christine also said she hopes to show, “Pose”, which Rodriguez stars in, will be available to all Australians, as it currently isn’t available in Australia, as it shows what the Transgender community can do and that it shows the audience the unpleasant sides of coming out as well as the glitz and glamour.
