Backbone youth arts will be holding a rally Saturday at 1:30pm at Backbone in Mulberry Park in regards to LNPs government decision to demolish their current place of residence in the East Brisbane Bowls Club. The local council will also set up a public consultation booth as well starting at 2pm in Mulberry Park close to where the rally will be held.

This has come as the LNP wishes to turn the East Brisbane area into heritage-listed riverside park which included the plans to demolish the bowls club using resident feedback that the club site was "under-utilised."

Both Labor and Greens have both offered up support against the demolition with Jonathan Sri and Amy Macmahon voicing vocal opposition  and Labor deputy leader Kara Cook launching a petition with 1700 signatures. The rally is expected to draw artists and politicians to talk about the importance of venues such as Backbone in Brisbane with both councilors Sri and Cook expected to attend.
