An army of volunteers leads defense and cleanup efforts after deadly riots in South Africa.

The protest and violence engulfed Johannesburg and Durban after the arrest of former President Jacob Zuma on July 7th.

Over the weekend stores that weren't ransacked rationed food, gasoline and other supplies to stretch out stock, residents remain on guard keeping checkpoints manned and about three dozen volunteers have been methodically sweeping up debris.

At least 212 people were killed and over 2,000 arrested.
