Acclaimed TV actress and announcer Mary Ward has passed away in a Melbourne aged care facility yesterday.
Most known for her role as ‘Mum’ Jeanette Brooks in the Prisoner series, Ward appeared in over 20 television series and six major films in a career which spanned over seven decades.
Ward was also a pioneer, being the first ever female announcer on the Australian Broadcasting Commission. She was 106.
