The Great Barrier Reef could avoid being listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Site in danger list if Australia’s proposed amendment to delay the decision until 2023 is passed.

Federal Environmental Minister Sussan Ley claimed the reef is being unfairly targeted for Australia’s climate change policy saying other international World Heritage Sites should be subject to the same process if listed on the basis of global climate change.

The decision will be announced tomorrow with 12 other countries in support of Australia.
