With Brisbane winning the Olympic bid, some parts of Regional Queesland are also expected to take part with some companion events already earmarked for regional Queensland, with Toowoomba, Townsville and Cairns expected to host preliminary and quarter-final matches for football.

In its Games masterplan, the Australian Olympic Committee said it planned to showcase Queensland's diverse natural environment by hosting events in the state's far north. Towns are bidding for funding and spots in the olympic games such as Mt Isa, who already host the international rodeo every year.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said they had already started on prepping Queensland for the games, stating  "We've entered into an initial delivery partner deed with the state government to provide support through venues and staffing arrangements,”.

State MP for Traeger Robbie Katter has been a vocal opponent of the Games bid, arguing the event would divert money from schools and hospitals and that the only way he'd support the 2032 Olympics would be if the Palaszscuk Government agreed to his idea of the government matching its Olympics spend dollar-for-dollar with its spend in regional Queensland.
