The Brisbane city council has met to discuss the future of the East Brisbane bowls club and their occupants Backbone, as Councilors voted down an urgency motion by Kara Cook not to tear down the club and make more green space.

Arguments escalated after the Labor team was called “out of line” for sharing a photo of the Deputy Mayor, Krista Adams, acting aggressively to a Backbone patron.

The Deputy Mayor fired back saying that she had been “screamed at by a labor operative” in regards to the patron and is annoyed that party politics has hit out in relation to the proposed demolition.

With no clear answer after the meeting the future of Backbone is still uncertain.
