The Katter Australia Party has begun lobbying the government for Afghan refugees to be settled in outback Queensland towns as a way of solving the region’s population decline.
Robbie Katter considers towns such as Biloela, Longreach and Mount Isa to be ideal locations for resettlement, instead of heavily populated capital cities.
Mr Katter said bringing refugees in would build strong regional communities and fill rural workers gaps.
