A food delivery driver was allegedly sacked by Chinese food delivery company Easi for trying to raise concerns regarding pay and safety.

Lawrence Du’s case has now been taken to the Fair Work Commission by the Transport Workers’ Union.

The Transport Workers’ Union claims that Mr Du and other Easi workers had to meet several requirements which made them look more like employees than contractors.

Transport Workers’ Union national secretary Michael Kaine called for the federal government to act, saying “delivery riders need an independent body to create and enforce minimum workplace pay and safety standards.”
