Poland is set to build a border fence next to Belarus in efforts to curb the recent influx of migrants from the Middle East and Asia.
Poland alongside its neighbouring Baltic EU countries have accused Belarusian authorities of pushing migrants across the border and using them as weapons in retaliation to sanctions. Border guards from these EU nations have blocked and pushed back migrant crossings.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko blamed the Polish government for instigating a ‘border conflict’ and violating Belarusian territory.
