The first road transport strike in more than a decade will cause major disruptions across Australia this Friday.

Thousands of truck and transport drivers nation-wide will strike after negotiations broke down between the Transport Workers Union and multi-million dollar logistics company, Toll.

This industrial action is reportedly supported by up to 94 per cent of the workforce, halting operations for a full 24-hour period after failures to resolve a long-running dispute over worker’s overtime being slashed by Toll.

The Transport Workers union national secretary Michael Kaine says that workers need "guarantees that they won’t be sliced and diced Qantas-style and replaced by a cut-price, underemployed workforce".
