Researchers from the University of New South Wales and the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute have reported that accommodation such as public housing is key to decreasing reoffending rates amongst ex-offenders.
Chris Martin from UNSW, says that social housing is a powerful break in the vicious cycle of homelessness and imprisonment.
The report found that among over 600 prisoners given public housing, NSW police incidents dropped 8.9 per cent per year.
