Queensland’s two most senior government leaders have questioned the staged national reopening plan, demanding research on the vulnerability of children and suggesting under-12s be included in calculations around easing restrictions.

During Question Time in Queensland Parliament on Wednesday, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk was repeatedly quizzed by the LNP Opposition on the staged national reopening plan.

When asked by LNP frontbencher Deb Frecklington if this meant lockdowns and restrictions would not end until 100 per cent of the state’s population was vaccinated, Ms Palaszczuk said that if they were not, “I want to know what will happen to the children of this state. It is a fundamental question. It is omitted from any modelling or plan, and every single Queenslander must be included in that plan.”
