Queensland Parliament has been disrupted by extinction rebellion protesters this morning at 7:30am calling on the Queensland government to recognise the terminal decline of our reef.

One activist has been arrested for scaling the parliamentary annexe and refusing to come down after decorating the building with fish carcasses and evocative banners.

Extinction Rebellion activists aim to protest alleged attempts to cover-up scientific advice from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature World Heritage Outlook which lists our reef as critically threatened.

Rising sea temperatures on the Great Barrier Reef are expected to contribute to further coral bleaching and destruction of the heritage-listed marine habitat.
