November first marks the deadline to lodge a 2020-2021 tax return without risking a fine from the Australian Taxation Office.

The ATO assistant commissioner, Tim Lo, says late lodgement fines are usually reserved for those who owe money, not the 80% of people who get some back.

He says the 80-cent-per-hour work from home deduction will be a particular benefit this year.

He says “the longer you wait, the chances are you’re missing out on a refund.”
