A protest by prisoners at the Capricornia Correctional Facility has ended today, with Queensland Corrective Services Staff confirming that the prisoners in question are now off the roof and back in their cells.
The protest which started on Thursday morning saw prisoners take to the roof of the correctional facility. It’s unclear what sparked this protest at this stage, but The Together Union, which represents prison guards, has raised issues about overcrowding at the facility
A spokesperson for the facility confirmed a prisoner had been taken to hospital with an injury, but it was unknown if it was related to the protest.
Queensland Ambulance Services said the prisoner was in a stable condition at Rockhampton Hospital.
