China has revealed a new plan to cut down the use of fossil fuels to under 20% by 2060.

The document released on Sunday reveals China's plan to implement more solar and wind power in order to eventually achieve carbon neutrality.

The pledge by President Xi Jinping will see China’s carbon emissions peak in 2030 and then neutralise by 2060.

China remains the highest carbon producing nation in the world and continues to build coal-fired power plants.

This plan comes ahead of the next round of climate talks in Glasgow next week where President Xi Jinping will be absent.
